Project Description

Fire Alarm System

A fire alarm system is a unit made of a few gadgets, which utilizes visual and sound signalization to caution individuals about a fire, smoke, or carbon monoxide which occurs in the specific area. Fire alarms are generally set in fire alarm system to give coverage to residential or private buildings. The warning or the alarm generated by fire alarm system can be a siren, bell or a light. Some fire alarm systems these days use special warnings such as generating a voice message or making a phone call to concerned department.

Fire Alarm system can be further classified depending upon the components integrated and the function they perform.

Parts of Fire Alarm System

A simple fire alarm is made up of different parts. Following are the parts which work together to save life by generating warning on time.

  • Fire Alarm Control Panel
  • Heat Detectors (Smoke Sensors or Carbon Monoxide Detector)
  • Sounders (Loud Sirens/Bell)
  • Power Supplies (Fire Alarm Batteries)

Fire Alarm System these days are installed in the home smartly using different software or smartphone applications. These fire alarm systems which are being used are mostly wireless and does not use any wires to make a connection between control panel and other devices, it just use power from the batteries installed.

Control Panel in each fire alarm system works as the brain of the system. It controls the complete settings and communicates through the system.

Fire detectors which are placed around the building when detects heat, smoke or carbon monoxide produce a signal to the sounders to emit a loud siren signal which warns the people around. Some fire alarm systems use flashers for visual warnings which emit light usually red or white.

Every system requires a power supply. The primary source of power supply for a fire alarm system is electrical. In case of failure of primary source the fire alarm system uses the secondary source which are batteries. And these systems need a regular battery check and battery replacements.

Most advanced fire alarm systems these days are controlled by smart phone applications and can be managed by the automated control system. These automated control panels in fire alarm system can easily handle multiple fire detectors at the same time and can response on time to save life.

Automatic Fire Alarm System

Fully Automated fire alarm systems are those which are actually activated when they sense the smoke or heat nearby. Fire detection sensors are used to activate the alarm in case of fire emergency.

Manual Fire Alarm system

Manual fire alarm systems are those systems which can be activated manually by pressing a button or using manual call points. Manual and automatic fire alarm systems can be included in the same system.

Conventional Fire Alarm System

Conventional fire alarm system is the system which activates when sense smoke or heat but it doesn’t pinpoint the exact area until it is inspected manually by a person or a detection system.

Addressable Fire Alarm system

In this type of fire alarm system the control panel has special dedicated address for fire alarm detector. This system is made to easily identify the main source from which the signal is generating.

One-Stage Fire Alarm System

This type of fire alarm system works to warn everyone present in the building or area. When the fire alarm senses the heat signal or smoke it suddenly generates a warning message for everyone that is present in the building.

Two-Stage Fire Alarm System

Two-Stage fire alarm system just only warn some specific and authorized persons to take action. This type of system is usually installed in large buildings such as hospitals, shopping malls or banks to avoid panic.
